Durga Ma fought Mahishasura for nine days and nights and finally killed him on the tenth day, which is celebrated as Dussehra or Vijayadashami in India.
Durga Ma is also worshipped as a symbol of feminine power and strength. Her devotees believe that by worshipping her, they can overcome their fears, obstacles, and negative energies, and achieve success, happiness, and spiritual enlightenment. The festival of Navratri, which is celebrated twice a year, is dedicated to Durga Ma, and it involves nine days of fasting, prayers, and rituals in her honor.
